There was an incident in the road in St Johns Avenue on Tuesday 13th May 2025 involving a child on his bicycle and a car.  Thankfully the driver was driving extremely slowly and the child was wearing a bicycle helmet. The child was not badly hurt and went into school with just a grazed knee though I am sure it did make everyone who saw the incident think more carefully about road safety.

Please ensure you drive very slowly near the school, particularly at drop off and pick up times, and be very alert to children. There is a school warning sign right next to where this incident happened. We insist that children wear a cycle helmet to cycle to school and advise them not to cycle on the pavement.

Due to the amount of pedestrians on the path during these times please consider your pavement etiquette carefully and make sure there is room for all to go up and down without anyone needing to step off the pavement.

We have never had a serious road accident outside school and so I would like to appeal to all drivers to drive as slowly, respectfully and sensibly as possible to ensure no one is hurt, seriously injured or killed.
